Angry brand new iPod classic...corrupted???

I recently received the new 160 GB iPod classic for Xmas and bought the OS X Leopard upgrade so I could use it. On my old 10.4.7, I had over 15000 songs and 10000 pictures saved and backed up on my external hard drive. Since upgrading, I have 13000 songs and 10000 pictures. Everytime I try to sync my new iPod with the brand new operating system, an alert pops up and says my iPod is corrupted and that I must restore it. I have done this 3 times. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I need to do??? PLEASE HELP!!!

I must say this is the most frustrating update EVER.
