I have 3000 songs on a 30 gig ancient ipod. I had it set up to a lap top that no longer works...my entire itunes file is on that computer!!!
I downloaded itunes on my new computer, but when i plugged my ipod in it said i would lose everything if i synced it with the new itunes file. I really don't want to lose my purchased music!!! Anyhow, when i called Apple, they said that i could set my ipod to a new computer...but maybe they thought i wouldn't mind losing my music!! Is there any way to put the songs that are on my ipod onto my new computer strictly from my ipod?? |

Connect your iPod to your computer and hold control+shift until iTunes opens and recognizes your iPod. This will bypass the automatic update of your pod. Then select and apply the manually mange music option to avoid this happening again. Enable disk mode as well, you will most likely need it.
As for rebuilding your library, Apple won't help you with that. But there are many programs available to assist you. Some are free and some cost. Check out some other posts here on iLounge or do a google search to find the one that best suits your needs.
