Thumbs up

When I first bought my iPod I wouldn't even take it out of the box until I had a case.

I didn't really see anyting I liked, so I ended up buying the dLO VideoShield from Best Buy. It was in a dark blue color which actually wasn't too bad, but it was only $4.99 on clearance.

This case did OK, but since it was for the 5G, the iPod kind of moved around and left some little scratches on the back of the iPod. It was cool in that it converted to a stand to set the iPod on to watch videos, but it didn't protect the screen.

Last week I picked up an Agent18 plastic case from Target. It was listed as being for the 30G video, and it was $24.99. It came with a belt clip and a video stand. This case is by far the best case I've seen so far as plastic cases go. It fits the 80G classic like a glove and it provides full protection over the screen. The bottom of the device where the dock connector is exposed, but it is recessed enough that it doesn't get scratched. Honestly, I cant say enough good stuff about this case. It also comes with an adaptor that lets you use the device with any universal dock without taking it out of the Agent18 case.

If you do go to Target, our Target had an Agent 18 case specifically for the 80G classic, but it didn't come with the video stand, belt clip, or the dock adaptor. It was the same price and came in a blue package. I'd reccommend going for the one in the Green package which says it's for the 30G. It's the same, but it comes with the extra accessories.

Sounds cool.

I just found that iSkin makes the Claro for the 80 GB - so I got that one.

Scratch-Proof!!!

iSkin Claro is awesome!

Scratch-proof - totally worth the money! ($40.00)

Otterbox. Totally protects the iPod, even underwater (up to 3 feet). It's rigid enough that it can survive a fall if you drop it. Bad thing is that you have to take it out to sync/charge it, but it's waterproof and has a hard plastic shell that protects your screen.

Dan6971 is there anything you don't like about the iSkin Claro?

What keeps the top cover from sliding off? And how hard is it to get it off and on?

Does the Classic 80 fit snug inside the case or does it rattle around some?

And how would a Black Classic look when inside the included white skin?

I'm hoping it's the Agent 18 because that's what I just ordered for my Classic.

The best iPod Classic skins/cases are the Otterbox Defender and the Invisible Skin (never used Best Skin Ever, et al, so I can't vouch for those):

Invisible Skin
1) Looks: 4.5
2) Scratch Resistance: 5
3) Seal: 3.5
4) Ease of application: 0.5
5) Ease of removal: 1
6) Shock Protection: 0
7) Clickwheel functionality: 4.5

Otterbox Defender
1) Looks: 3.5
2) Scratch Resistance: 4
3) Seal: 5
4) Ease of application: 4
5) Ease of removal: 4
6) Shock protection: 4
7) Clickwheel functionality: 4.5

I took off my Invisible Skin and am now sticking with my Otterbox Defender case.

I'm going to go by AFK's review chart

Belkin Metal Remix:
1) Looks: 4.5 (I love it)
2) Scratch Reistance: 4 (I haven't had much trouble yet!)
3) Seal: 4 (Only thing that got me was that it didn't cover the bottom dock)
4) Ease of application: 3.5 (Was a little confusing of taking the top off)
5) Ease of removal: 4 (Same as above)
6) Shock protection: 4 (Not great shock absorb-tion but it does break the fall!)
7) Clickwheel functionality: 4.5 (So much better than the eVo4, only thing is that the middle button feels a little awkward to press)

So overall I'd give it a 4, so an A-. I would definitely recommend this case.
Comes in black, pink, and silver. So it should match any iPod pretty well!

Goal in life: To make an iSlide or iFlip

i.e. an iPod that slides from Screen to Screen and Clickwheel.

Or an iPod that has a clamshell form factor.

I picked up this exact same case today thanks to your recommendation. I got a Target GC for xmas, I also got a new 80gb classic for xmas, so there you have it. I was going to get an iSkin evo3 classic, but figured I'd just try this one out since I wouldn't have to order it. I do like it quite a bit, it seems pretty secure, but it looks to me like it is nice 100% snug, there is a little wiggle room at the bottom, but it's not going anywhere, that's for sure. I feel very comfortable with it.

I can't report back with numbers, but I would assume it's pretty scratch resistant (has plastic over the screen as well so it protects there, but nothing over the clickwheel, so the wheel retains 100% functionality, which was important to me. It's also got nice big spaces for the hold button and headphone jack on top, which is good. The accessories are nice, but I don't think I have any uses for them at this point. Overall, I'd say a decent buy for $25.

Hey you guys, I'm new here and I'm a first time owner of an iPod. (iPod Classic 80GB). Well I bought the Griffin Reflect case when I got the iPod and it's been holding up well, except that it's getting lots of scratches on the case's surface and on the side as well. But a lot of people I know think this case is stylish and sleek.

I picked up a black Belkin Leather Folio case. The one with the brown piping on the edges. Got it from Best Buy yesterday actually. It's quite nice. The iPod slips into the case from the left side and it has a built-in screen protector and full access to the dock and hold switch, and of course the headphone jack.

It's worth considering.
