I've got a 20GB color iPod. It has behaved badly last week, but Friday evening it worked okay again, like a charm. But Saturday morning, iTunes crashed when my iPod was connected, and started working again when I disconnected my iPod. When I restart my iPod, I get the language selection screen and all settings are reset. When I look for my songs, they're all gone. Now I'm at a point where iTunes doesn't crash anymore, but my iPod doesn't show up. Windows knows there's an iPod connected when I look at the safely disconnect menu, but it doesn't show any information about the HD. Sometimes I manage to get the iPod to show up on iTunes, but again, it doesn't display any information and says that there's a damaged iPod connected. I mostly get this when I've just disconnected my iPod, sometimes it stays on but when I click restore, it won't restore. In addition, the name I gave my iPod, "rPod", doesn't show up, it's just called iPod.
I've also tried fixing it with YamiPod, but it doesn't see my iPod. I think there may be a corruption on the hard drive or something. This isn't anything that can fixed by smacking it, I've done that several times before and it always worked. This time it doesn't. Maybe I've damaged the hard drive physically, I hope I didn't. I'm starting to get a little desperate now. |
