I have a 5th generation iPod and it has been working fine for over a year. Now out of nowhere it starts playing then pausing then playing then pausing very quickly then will shut down then start up then shut down. Then sometimes it wont even do that I will just hit play and it will instantly shut down and will take a long time to start up.

What remedies have you already tried? Resetting? Restoring?

I reset once and that didn't work and then it wouldn't let me reset at all. I tried optimizing the album art to see if it was a lag problem and no luck. I tried restoring and it worked for about 5 hours then started having the same problem.
