my ipod has been using windows and i was wondering will it work with mac or do i gotta reformat it

It will work fine with a Mac as is.
However, if you're not going to be using it with Windows machines, your best bet is to format it for Mac. If you're going to be using it between the two OSes however, keep it Windows formatted.
