Itunes program transfer to new computer

Hi,

My current computer that has my itunes program and library of music is being retunred to my employer and I will be getting my own personal computer:

1.) Do I have to save the itunes and if so how do I save it, I attempted to copy and paste to my zip drive but it only copied the icon and not the whole program with music library.

2.) If I DO NOT save the itunes program with music library can i just re-download a new program as a curretn itunes user and then jsut sync or "reverse sinc" my ipod so it can transfer the music, pics etc. from my ipod to my new itunes in the new computer.

Pls. advice.

If there is a way to save the current itunes with music, pcs etc. into my zip drive please advice me as to the steps.

Much appreciated.

Cheers,
Gerard

You're going to have to re-download iTunes onto your new computer then sync from old and 'reverse sync' to your new computer.
There is many 3rd party programs that you can use to 'reverse sync' your library. If you purchased your library from the ITMS(iTune's Music Store) you can select your iPod and look for the option of transferring purchases (with proof you purchased them ie. ITMS Username and pass).
Hope this is right and helpful.

Edit://
Found a helpful tut on how to 'reverse sync'

The program doesn't really matter. What you want are the music files and the "library" files. A ZIP disk is pretty small; you're going to be forever transferring your music files with that (unless there's very little music). However, a ZIP drive is certainly up to the task of perserving your Library files, where play counts, ratings, playlists, and all the other iTunes goodies are maintained.

Look in My Documents/My Music/iTunes/ for the file "iTunes Library.itl" Save a copy of that file. If you can lay your hands on a sufficiently large drive, you can move everything -- library, music files -- to the new PC in one fell swoop, and it'll be just like your old machine.

If your sole alternative winds up being getting stuff off the iPod, better to see this front page article -- it's very much up to date and a quick(er) read.

Thanks a lot for both your responses....my only option will have to be transferring data from my ipod to the computer.

Thanks,
Gerard
