Recently i plugged my ipod into the computer and a playlist named On-The-Go 1 and it had a few songs duplicated. Can any explain this phantom playlist?

You (or someone) must have created an On The Go playlist on your iPod (press and hold the center button while an artist, album, playlist, or song is highlighted to create and add to the OTG playlist). Next time you (auto)sync your iPod, the OTG playlist will be copied into your iTunes and removed from your iPod. Note that the OTG playlist will allow duplicates if you add an item to it multiple times.
