Ten Commandments

I recently downloaded the movie "The Ten Commandments". When I went to sync with my 80GB iPOD I received the following:

"The Ten Commandments" was not copied to the iPod <name> because it cannot be played on this iPod.

Any ideas/suggestions?

All responses appreciated.

Downloading

I recently downloaded TV Video with no problems. I have the latest in updates so I am totally lost. I did read where some people that downloaded this movie had trouble with viewing it with Apple TV but nothing about syncing the movie.

I was reading some of the reviews on the iTunes Store, it seems that you aren't the only one with problems. I guess there is something not right about this movie or that it is encoded at a setting in which some iPods are incompatible with it. I suggest that you contact Apple about this so that they can get things straightened out with your account. You probably won't receive a response until Monday. I know that is not the answer you want as it is Easter and I am sure other there are some other religious events occurring that coincide with this movie thus making you want to watch it.

The iTunes Store support page is found here. Just click on the appropriate topic and you will be sent to a e-mail page.

Edit:

OK, just downloaded the movie. It won't sync to my iPod either. I think it is because the audio is encoded in 5.1 surround sound while the iPod can handle only stereo audio in video files. I will contact Apple tomorrow as there is no point in contacting them today.

Apple Contacted

I contacted apple about the problem with The Ten Commandments. They just put it back into my download file, I downloaded again, but still it does not work. I requested a refund. I have more to do than download for hours.

Refund/Fix

I received a refund/credit from Apple on the movie "The Ten Commandments". They are looking into what is causing the problems we see in the download. They also informed me that they did not think, at this time, that the surround sound was causing the problem. I will wait two weeks, as suggested, and then attempt another download. I think this is one of the best movies ever made.

I too received a refund on my purchase. I agree that it is a good movie but my mood to watch it is gone. At least Apple refunded our purchases, they don't normally do that. I am sure there is something wrong with the way the video was encoded. They might not have followed their own BaseLine 1.3 standards. I just think it is weird that neither my iPod, iTunes, nor QuickTime will play this video. It is very disappointing that Apple would let such a great movie get this type of release.

I probably won't try to download it in two weeks as my desire to watch this movie has gone away. I would much rather have the actual DVD of this movie anyways.
