My albums get split up!! Help please

If i want to listen to a certain artists album which has a featured artist on one of the songs why does the ipod not list it in the album when trying to play the whole album.

Basically the new Snow Patrol album has a song featuring Martha Wainwright. When i want to listen to the whole album that song is not included. I have to go back to artists on the menu and select Snow Patrol featuring Martha Wainwright. This is annoying as that track is part of the album

Hope that makes sense.

is there anything i can do.

You have to have an album listed as one artist - put the name of the extra artist into the track title or something instead, or the iPod will continue to split up the albums.

The thing is that in Itunes you can tag everything correct, that is album-artist for instance "Snowpatrol" and for Artist "Snowpatrol feat. M. Wainwright", as it is supposed to be, for all I know.
But you're Ipod can't list album-artist. It only lists by Artist, thus creating the above problem.
It is time for an update that can resolve this imo!

I've got the same with Angie Stone. My solution was tagging all the songs as a compilation. The only letdown now is that the album is listed as "Various artist" and is placed at the backend of my collection.

You could tag it the other way around ofcourse ( "artist" the same name and "album-artist" both names)

Well, I've been using iPods for 3 years now and this is by far the most annoying organizational issue that I have had. Either they can't or won't fix this one. Guess I'll just have to keep lying to iTunes and telling it that they are the same artist. My OCD nature hates it, but it's better than having my albums split up when browsing by artist.

Same thing here I cant stand having my artist split up.

But for the original poster here is some stuff that I have had to edit in iTunes to make my albums stick in one other then splitting up. All of these had like a space or a . and it would split it up. artist, album, grouping. If one of those had an extra space it would mess up.

The best way to deal with this is name the whole album under the same artist (snow patrol) and in the song track at the end of the track name add (Ft. M. Wainwright) ex -

Track name -
Set the Fire to the Third Bar (Ft Martha Winwright)
Artist -
Snow Patrol
Album -

Thumbs up I've had the same problem...

I've had the same problem as you many of times, And I've found a way around it 99% of the time. if you type in the name of the album, Highlight them all, Right click, "Get Info", Then on on "Options" you should see a box that says 'Part of a compilation' if you tick that box then "OK" They should group together(: I'm sorry if this doesn't solve your question but it's worked for me most the time, Good Luck!
