Red face Green Behind the Ipod

Hi a friend of mine loaded my ipod on his computer with 1,500 songs. I want to add songs to my ipod on my computer now. How do I do this without erasing the songs that are currently on the Ipod. If you know, please explain it as if you were explaining it to a child. Not to techno savy here.

Thanks

if this is the first time plugging your ipod into itunes then it will ask you if you want to manually or auto update your ipod based on this computer...you'll want to select manual otherwise it will sync with an empty library...rendering you with an empty ipod

Thanks Muzzle, this is all I have to do, then can I expand on my library of songs and add it to my IPOD?

Thanks

Doesn't it just automatically do auto-update, or has this changed?

I'd hold down the shift key until iTunes has discovered the iPod, so it won't automatically do anything.

When you first plug it in and first install iTunes a iPod Wizard appears and asks if you want auto-sync or manual management on.

Okay, I also have ITUNES set up on the computer for my daughters NANO. Can I set up a seperate Itunes for my songs and can I download into that the 1,500 song from my new Ipod into the computer.

If so is there any special instructions in doing this?

I am nervous about loosing the songs.

Thanks for the help....

yes, you can do both.

To setup another iTunes library on the same computer, you need to hold down the shift key (in windows) or the command key (in Mac) while starting iTunes. Keep in mind you'll need to do this when you open iTunes each time so you can select the library you want loaded.

To copy the songs off the iPod and onto the computer, you can use a 3rd party software like Floola or YamiPod.
