Question What's your maximum volume?

What's the maximum volume that you have listened to your iPod at? I personally have a phobia of damaging my ears and eyes so I'm real cautious about my volume. I've never had my iPod's volume past the album art with the earphones in my ears during audio playback. Movies are different because they play low. I know people who listen to their iPods at full volume all the time. I could never do that since to me that's way too loud and like I said, I'm wary.

I listen to my music pretty loud. Not at full volume, but about three quarters there. When using a headphone amp coupled with my Grados, most of the time I listen at half volume.

You will get different answers from different people because not everyone uses the same headphones and not everyone listens to music at the same db level.

That's right. Not everyones headphones will be the same. if i plug my ety4p's in and turn it up to 50% then swap to westone um2's at the same volume my head will explode!

True. I never thought about the "headphones factor".

.....and of course if you have a European iPod the upper volume limit is set lower by Apple to comply with regulations designed to protect our "sensitive" European ears.

I have the level set at the mid-point, most of the time... The volume limit is set to default..

It would be neat if in the next Update they add a feature where you see what the actual decibel output is..

I adjusted the volume limiter to max so that I wouldn't have to deal with it. I mostly listen to music at 50% when I use the stock Apple white earbuds. I up the volume to around 65% when I use my Bose headphones.

I set the limiter to about 1/3 the way up.
Then, the volume within that varies depending on the song, headphones, etc.

I have tinnitis and hearing loss already, from playing in a band. (and I do wear hearing protection. Eventually, there is no escaping it with enough repeated exposure)

With my ety/er-6's I put the volume at about 1/3...with the apple pack-in's I have to turn it way up (to about 3/4) to drown out background noise.

Normally mine is set to max, but I never used it..saw this forum and decided its a good idea to prevent the accidental bumping of the volume that sometimes happens when I'm reaching to change songs..its set 1/4th from the top.

I actually emailed Apple about that and a volume limit a long, long time ago. Then, they got sued so I got my volume limit They didn't include a decibel reader though
