I bought my 80gig iPod from Costco. Reading the setup questions, it says to sync the iPod and charge the battery. I've heard that most people have had to charge their battery for the first time for 4 hours, but I plugged it in and charged for about 20 seconds and it said that it was already fully charged. My question is, do some of the iPods come fully charged? I talked to my friend who also bought his from Costco and he said his was already fully charged.
And another question: Does it take more battery power if I leave it on shuffle because of having the hard drive spinning to shuffle through? Last edited by mushroom; 01-20-2007 at 04:14 PM. |

I'm pretty sure mine came with a full charge. And about the battery, I think it actually takes less power on shuffle because the hard drive doesn't need to spin up to load every song; it makes a list in the beginning and so only spins when you manually change songs or playlists.

Shuffle or not, same battery use. Both on shuffle or straight play it fills the buffer the same way. It's skipping songs, which will cause the buffer to need to be refilled more quickly that will grab your battery quicker.
