Same thing happened to me when i ordered a black nano. Got a refund, but still haven't ordered a replacement. Good thing cause the new nanos came out a month later.

My iPod label states that the weight is 1 lb so if Apple shipped the iPod along with the other iTems then the weight should have been more. Did you point the weight stated on the box out to Apple?

Why would a courier deliver ANY package to a neighbour. Just put one of those things on the door about "we came but you were nothome go pick it up at the shipping depot". I haven't had good experiences with Purolator when shipping larger things (more than a pound). Last thing I had shipped to me with Puro was my 10GB 3G ipod. It said it would be here on a certain date and it wasn't. I called Puro two days later and said I want that package before 5pm today or I will take legal action about false advertising. 10 minutes later an unmarked car came and gave me the package.

They should require the receiver to sign it. The OP post shows this.

I totally agree. If the FedEx (or whatever other company) is a lazy [i]you know what[/b], then it's just your luck. The one I had was probably one of them. Surprised he even went back to get the package...with the iPod missing already.

Apple has a record of this so it should be sorted out. They will contact FedEx about this and once it's resolved, they will send another one to you (hopefully overnight like mine ).

FedEx delivered mine to Michelin's North American headquarters, which was five miles away. The address wasn't even remotely similar to mine. Luckily the folks in the Michelin mailroom were honest and let me pick it up from them.

3rd why apple put a lable saying"iPod 60G Black" on the box, whoever see the lable might want to steal it......

wondering apple didnt put an iPod inside the box or somebody stole it!
called apple customer service, and the guy said apple ll send me an email about the investigation, ll take 3-5 business day......

The box alone is 10.3 oz = 0.64 lb,
if they put the ipod in the box before they shipp it, it should be 0.64 lb (box) + 0.34 (ipod) + headphone, dock, cable.......>= 1 lb

I had this happen with my package from Amazon.com Among other things I had my Sennheiser CX300 earphones in it. I went to get the package out of the mail (USPS) and I picked up the box and said to myself" WTH, this is light, amazon didn't ship something"

When I pulled the box all the way out of the mail box, I realized that the Mail dude delivered an empty and ripped up box. (the entire back end was opened and trashed.)

Luckily I called Amazon and they shipped a duplicate order the next day. (I'm sure it helped that I've done business with them for the past 8-9 years and have never had an issue like this. The woman I spoke with probably took one look at everything I've ordered and she just created a duplicate order under my account for 0 charge right then and there.)

I filed a report with the post office but they could care less. Hell, the person I spoke to probably had my earphones in her purse.

Also had another incident with Fedex where they delivered an item to the wrong apartment (2 buildings over, it turns out.) we never got our money back, or got the item back over that one. At that point we quit using Fedex when we have a choice in the matter. FedEx tried sending the driver back out, but no one answered the door. So I went over to the APT and knocked on the door. I could HEAR people inside but they refused to answer the door so I left a big nasty note on the door and put up a huge note on the bulletin board for our complex stating what happened and how dishonest they were. They moved out a month later. It was a lousy $50.00 item but apparently greed is all consuming, to the point that someone would rather freaking move away than admit wrong doing and make it right, how sad is that. (they left the item on the doorstep to the wrong apartment, without getting a signature even though they were SUPPOSED to.)

What someone else said is true though, I've had issues with U.P.S. too. It REALLY depends on the driver for your area. I've had lazy drivers for U.P.S. not even knock on my door or leave a sticky note saying that they dropped off my package at the front office for our complex. I only find out about it when I go check online and see that it was delivered. heh.

BTW FedEx Does NOT (I repeat) does NOT... Require a signature to deliver items during "Busy times of the year"... During "busy times of the year" they are allowed to just leave the package on your doorstep, out in the open, for anyone to steal, in order to get everyone's packages delivered. Call Fedex and ask them if you don't believe me. I found out the hard way.

i just got my Nano from FedEx and there's no mention of what is in the box, other than a part number.

if it's being delivered to a nice looking neighborhood (up to the driver's discretion), he may choose to leave package at front door, or neighborhood. i'm pretty sure the only time he is required to get a signature is when the shipper specifies that a sig. is required.

my Nano came 3 days earlier than estimated my FedEx.

Reading the number of threads about theft with Fedex, well I'd be buying from a store.

Australia Post, really our only carriers apart from smaller courier companies which bigger companies tend to not deal with unless it's a heavy item, are fantastic. You very rarely hear of theft. The only time I heard of it was when one of their delivery centres was broken into and everything stolen. I hope I don't jinx myself for the next time I use Australia Post.

Oh and I hope you get a new ipod very soon. That sucks.

Despite numerous other problems with various carriers, I have been fortunate that I have never had an item lost by FedEx, UPS, or Purolator. In every case they have always required a signature for delivery (albeit not necessarily my signature -- frequently my building concierge will sign for packages on my behalf when I'm out).

However, at one point Canada Post left a package from Amazon at my door (presumably). All I know is that I never received it, despite claims that it was delivered. I have to assume that it was swiped. However, I sent a quick e-mail to Amazon, and was very impressed that I not only got a reply within the hour, but they shipped out a replacement item via express post, no questions asked, which arrived the next day.

OMG! The same exact thing happened to me except it was DHL and luckily they never opened the package. It only said it was from Apple and that stuff. The DHL guy delivered it to some guy and he signed the name of that monkey that was at the zoo in Atlanta. We reported it and he had to go and retrieve it. I think they should have to pay when their employees make slipups like these b/c they cost people money.

Same thing happened to me recently. I ordered a refurbished ipod video from Apple, and the box arrived with "refurbished ipod" written all over it ( ) - it might as well have said "STEAL ME PLZ", and Fedex left it right on my door step with *no signature*. Keep in mind I live in the hood, though my house is set far back away from the street. Also, I was at work for 6 hours after it got delivered.

When I got home I was ####ed, and I checked online and it had a name next to the signature line that I've never heard of. They're lucky no one touched my package, or I would have raised a serious ruckus.

Fedex gets a big thumbs down for not adhering to the signature policy. I'd have no problem driving to the depot to get my package.

Same here, FedEx ALWAYS makes me sign for stuff, but UPS just throws it on my porch. If I'm lucky they'll ring my bell to let me know, but frequently I'll go online to track a package only to discover it was delivered hours ago.

I ordered my iPod from the apple store yesterday and I panicked when I found out they are using fedex. Ugh, I hate fedex. Even USPS in my area is better than them, and they deliver on Saturdays to boot(both UPS and FedEx do not).

But anyway, I've been lucky so far. I've had two not so good incidents with fedex(out of a total of 5) in the last year. The first was when I ordered batteries, it came in two boxes, and I specifically said that signatures should be required in my shipping note. They left one of the packages at my front door, and took a few more days to deliever the other, they one that needed a signature. How inconsistent.

The second one involved them delivering a package to the wrong address, two houses down. Good thing that my neighbors were trustworthy and they gave it to me without opening it. And its weird, I live in a semi-ghetto and I've never had packages stolen(shipped by other companies), even if it was left on the front door for over a day.
