iPod Showing Wrong Album Artwork

When I am playing songs on my iPod sometimes it displays the wrong album art. When I click it to look at the close-up it is displaying a different album. in my iTunes it looks fine. WTF is going on?

Chances are that the album art database has become corrupted somehow.

When iTunes places album art on the iPod, it actually creates a database of that artwork, with pointers from the music database into the artwork database. If these pointers get corrupted somehow, then the wrong artwork will show up (since it will point to the wrong record in the database).

The simplest way to fix this if you're using auto-sync is to go in to iTunes, and DISABLE the option to "Display Album Artwork" in your iPod preferences. Sync your iPod, and all of the album artwork will be removed. You can then RE-enable the option in order to put the artwork back, at which point it should be again indexed properly and the correct artwork should show up for the correct tracks.

Simple fix

Happens to me all the time. Plug your iPod/iPhone in and select it in iTunes. Go to music and tell iTunes to only sync one playlist or artist. Sync again and all music on your iPod will be removed. Don't worry, it's still on your pc. After the sync, change the setting back to full sync and sync again. After the next sync, all your album art is restored properly.

Another simple fix

This happens sometimes to me and is annoying. I've found if its just a few albums I can delete the entire album on my ipod and then put it back on from the library. Never tried the checkbox resync way but this works for me.
