help getting polish residue out of clickwheel area

I got overzealous with the applesauce polish, so now there's a half-moon of dried pink paste in the narrow area between the clickwheel and glass. Is there any good way to get it out?

I have a couple pictures but only established members (?) can post links here.

If you set up the link a mod or helper will probably make them legit, the pics links that is. They're good like that.

I'll see if this works. Well, this is the picture where you can best see the problem.

Well my fingernails are somewhat longer. So I'd just get a softcloth maybe a tissue or something and scoop it around the clickwheel with my fingernail going in the sides of it while pushing down the clickwheel. (make sure it's on hold) Hopefully the tissue would pick up all the pink around there.

On the other hand, your iPod looks really new free of scratches!
