Hi Everyone, im a longtime music buff but im fairly new to the ipod. I have owned mp3 players before so im not necessarily a newb in the subject. OK HERES THE PROBLEM:
Since the first time i loaded songs on my ipod, i could not completely sync it to the itunes library because it said some files could not be played on the ipod. I could not figure out how to make itunes give me list of all the files, it just said files like "some song" cannot be played on the ipod, it just gave me one of the songs that could not be loaded. I could not manually look for the songs because the library is about 10000+ songs so it would have taken too much of my time. For a couple of months i just ignored it and just listened to the music i had, even though it did frustrate me a little. That was before i started noticing some of the songs that were missing. SO i just deleted them form the itunes library and downloaded different files for these songs, i figured if a downloaded then in AAC format, they would transfer to the ipod. This worked, the ones that i changed did transfer to the ipod. Now this is were it gets tricky. Even though the songs were on the ipod, when I hit music, artists, and the specific artist, the song didnt show up. Then i thought maybe i just made a mistake and it didnt transfer after all, and neither did any of the other songs, but i was to exhausted to go looking trough all he songs so i decided to do something else. Delete all songs from the ipod and load them again. I also cleaned up my music library and limited my collection to mostly full cds. I thought that full cds are often ripped at the same time from the original cd so this would minimize my chance of encountering weirdly formatted songs. This did work, and as of now my library is syncd with the ipod in every aspect. NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS SORT OF BIZZARE. I still cannot view the songs on the ipod!! but listen to this. When I add the entire artist to the on-the-go playlist, I CAN SEE ALL OF THE SONGS! i figured out that the problem happened when i had several songs by an artist, and only one of them has the cd listed. The problem is that when i acces the artist it goes straight to this cd instead of giving me the option to access the cd or see all tracks by the artist, therefore the tracks that dont have a cd listed, get lost somewhere where i cannot access them. I realize this might be a fairly easy problem, i truly have no idea. But any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance |

check two things:
- all of your songs have an album name (any character will do) - in itunes make sure your songs are not tagged as "part of a compilation" these are the two most common causes of songs not showing up where you think they should. the first issue is a known bug (in my opinion) and the second is a feature that itunes uses to group songs into a special section called 'compiliations'. |

My little brother had the same problem, but he didn't care. Did you get it fixed? Maybe I can help...

Your library shows a list of the songs. Sort by artist or album will show blank entries at the bottom.
