Question 2nd hand Ipod: how to do the first sync?

Hi,

I'm getting a second-hand ipod soon, which probably has some music on it. Now, when I connect to my pc, will I get the option to delete that music, or will that music end up in my Itunes library (I hope not), or is there a way to let Itunes overwrite anything that's on the player, or I can I delete/reset the player without the pc, or... or...

So... what will happen, and what to do? ;-)

When you plug the iPod into iTunes you will get a pop saying something like "Would like to auto-sync this iPod" If you hit YES, then iTunes will remove the music currently on the iPod and put your music on it. Or you could do a restore which will wipe the HD

Not to hijack your thread . . but I just bought my friend's ipod who upgraded . . how do I change the information so it is known as my ipod instead of his? It's found under the "About" tab.

Thanks,
Dills

Your best bet is to download the latest iPod updater from Apple and use that to "restore" the iPod. This will reset the iPod to a "factory fresh" condition and let you go through the setup procedure again.
