What formats does iPod play?

I'd like to know:

What audio formats does the iPod play?
What video formats does the iPod play?

Oblivouly you can see from those questions I don't own an iPod, but am really considering buying one. I would also like to know if it would be possible to convert my songs (mp3) and some videos (in video clip format) to an iPod. I'm on Windows if that helps, and just got the newest version of iTunes.

I know that this is probably listed somewhere on these forums or on the apple site, but I have yet to find it.

Thanks!

"Audio formats supported: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV "

So it does support mp3, thanks

Hm, a question on the video formats tho, it says it only supports H.264 and MPEG-4...anyone know of a good converter that will let me convert video formats such as wmv and 'video clips' into MPEG-4 or H.264 format? (BTW, what format is a video clip?? All it says is for the format is 'video clip' Iv'e been wondering about that for a while...)

One free video converter designed for iPods.

If you want the file extensions to be visible:

Start/Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab

DE-select the option to "Hide extensions for known file types".
