Two and a half months in to owning my 60gb iPod, and I still love it.
The funny thing is, I utilize it completely differently than I thought I would. I wanted the video enabled iPod so that I could take all of the movies and tv shows I was downloading with me and also watch them in bed when there was nothing on late night tv (can't stream from my PC to my entire house yet). but... I'd say 90% of my iPod's use occurs while driving to and from work, mostly listening to podcasts with the FM transmitter. I rarely even use the headphones! That being said, I still love this thing and do not regret the purchase one bit. I am sure once I decide to put that gym membership to use, the ratio of usage will change. Are you using your iPod just as expected pre-purchase? If not what do you use it mostly for? |

I suppose that is better than using it to open coconuts.

I use it as a mp3 player pretty much. It's nice not trying to decide what cd to play when I get in the car, too -- just stick it on shuffle (on a smart playlist to keep from hearing the same stuff over and over). As for video, I rarely watch videos on it directly. I tend to use the iPod as a portable video storage device, plugging it into a TV to watch episodes of The Office! Oh and yeah, I'm using it the way I expected to.

i use mine for its primary purpose as i do laundry or other chores around the house. at the gym, i'll listen to music and also catch up on tv shows (when i'm on the stairmaster doing steady-state cardio and can afford to not pay attention so much to my workout). if there were any open radio stations in my area (the fm frequencies are saturated in the san francisco area), i'd use an fm transmitter to listen to podcasts or audio books during my commute...

I've got a 300$ musical paperweight.
Actually I use it to contain my musical library so I can listen to anything I have anywhere easier than having a thick wallet of cds and a cd player. The video thing is a plus, but most of the time in school I listen to music doing work, rather than watch vids in leisure

Thanks for the clear and concise response above evoGage. I can only thank you for not throwing in the quote:
"This has been covered elsewhere newbie, how dare you post a topic similar to another topic." The lack of pompous sarcasm and snottiness tells me that perhaps the userbase here is loosening up a bit.

I didn't think I'd use the video function as much as I do. I was just expecting to watch music videos on it, but I use it for catching up with my video podcasts in bed, playing My Name is Earl and Lost on a TV so the family can watch, and for watching films in college (my college course includes film studies).
I've also started to play the games, which is something I'd never do on my monochomatic 4G. I'm doing a media production course at college which covers radio, video, and photography/graphic design so my iPod has kinda become a digital portfolio.
