I'm seriously annoyed with Apple at the moment. I've had my iPod video for 2 months, and it died on me, so I had to send it back. All was well. They sent me a new one, but it was a 30GB, I had purchased a 60GB. I was like "What the ####?!" and spoke to a technician for about 30 minutes trying to convince her that I had purchased a 60GB. In the end they sent a box down again, I sent it back, they sent me a new 60GB. It arrived broken, with scratches all over the clickwheel. It had a fricking crack in the screen! How the hell?! I call Apple and once again spend a long time trying to convince them that it wasn't my fault.
Then my dad's iPod breaks for the 7th time in one year. Nice way to top it all off. Apple sends him a box, and then sends me one. But somehow they send my box to someone else in my town, it's signed for by someone called "Adams"and I have no idea who this is. Apple now wants to charge me for wasting resources. Can anyone else say what the hell? |

In fact I would like to start by saying 'what the hell'..are you talking about. Is there any chance that you're translating from Chinese to Russian and from Italian then back to English. Or is this post just a freelance writing exercise with common and simple English grammer tossed to the wayside. Your dad's ipod broke for the, i'm sorry, 7TH (seventh) time this YEAR? whoa whoa wait a minute here, does he know that you're not supposed to flush it down the toliet and don't smash it under your car and you shouldn't bake it in the oven and never use it as a thermometer for the hot tub and it's ill-advised to clean it in the washer machine and never use a hammer to put your earphones in and etc. etc. The sentence that starts "In the end they sent a box down again, I sent it back, " what does that mean? What box? Why can you send boxes back? Anyway what can I say, what the hell. Good luck.

For your trouble, speak to a manager and insist on getting a new 5G iPod for your father, plus the proper model for you and several accessories (dock, AV cable, in-ear earbuds, etc.).
Don't be angry on the phone. Be polite and hold your ground, but getting mad at them directly while talking to them will not help.

I was very polite, I can never be angry on the phone to a technician because at the end of the day they're just doing their job, they don't deserve any grief. My dad did ask about a 5G iPod and the technician politely refused and offered him a 16 months extension to his iPod warranty instead (my dad had called them a day before the warranty expired). If the iPod breaks again they'll give him an iPod video. After hearing about friends getting their iPod Photos (or even Colors) swapped for videos after 2 repairs I'm annoyed that they haven't done the same for us, my dad kept asking to speak to the supervisor, he did, but sadly he didn't get any further than that.
I am tempted to call Apple and ask for accessories, as they are aware of our situation (I purchased both iPods, they are both under my name), in total we've had a lot of repairs. It's no fun for myself, nor is it any fun for Apple. I'd hate to ask, because it's quite cheeky, but I think it's fair. I think I'll call them on monday and politely ask. I'm not going to go crazy and shout at the technician if he/she refuses.

Can I ask the nature of your problems? I've had my iPod (4G Mono) for close to 2 years and haven't had one problem at all with it.

Sure, if I can remember correctly.
iPod Photo 40GB 1. Clicking noise, kept restarting on Apple screen. 2. Same as above. 3. Died about a day after being received. 4. Clickwheel did not work properly. 5. Screen was distorted, battery life was about 3 hours. 6. Battery life was 5 hours. 7. Died. My one... 1. Died. 2. Broken in terms of hard disk, crack on screen, scratches on clickwheel. The only iPod that was fine was the 30GB... hehe.

That's horrible, if it really happened. Honestly I can't imagine one person having that much bad luck with a company who's customer service is considered the best in the business...surprising, that's all.
I've had my 3G 15GB iPod for close to three years now...and I'm getting a video in late february/early march for my birthday. Never had any problems with the 3G till now, the battery is lasting about an hour or less, sometimes it doesn't take a charge at all.

Is there an apple store near you? sometimes its easier to deal with them.
I spent 2 months trying to get my engraved 30gb back from apple, and in the end i got $280 worth of accesories, an upgrade to an unengraved 60gb to pick up from my local apple store, and after i thought the whole ordeal was over, i get my 30gb engraved one back from apple. i corresponded with my customer relations rep, who took note of the serial number to the returned 30gb, and my email address. Since then, he never responded, and in the mean time, my gf's bday came around sooooo...you can only guess what happened to it. lol, gluck with it. you shud know the a company as big as apple, the customer service is actually quite reasonable. if you feel you arent being treating politely (either cuz of your age, or just cuz the rep ur speaking to is a jerk) asked to be forwarded to customer relations, and not to the service center. once your talking to customer relations, you'll find most of them are more receptive to your demands. When you get through to the repair center ask to be forwarded to customer relations, without saying anything else (cept for given ur case # and all). gluck...i know what you're going thru

Thanks for the tips, SZ. The nearest store is 120 miles away, hehe. I'll have to ask to be forwarded to Customer Relations though, seriously, thanks. And congrats on the extra iPod. |

Haha, I'm totally kidding. But I think if anyone was in Paoii's problem(s), they would be pretty ticked off as well. Otherwise, if you don't want to help than why post? Just because your having a bad day doesn't mean we did a single thing to you. So, please...Nothing nice to post? Don't post anything at all. -Cheers! P.S. - Paoii hope you get everything Steelers, oops I mean Settled...sorry Steelers are still on my head from kicking Seattle's butt last night. |

damn all that sounds real bad, I would just demand your dads ipod be upgraded to 6g and that they seriously compensate you, doubt it will work, i have sent 3 ipods off to apple and have had them mess up twice and i have also had them put the totally wrong engraving on an ipod, but be real nice to apple because on my past experience they have the worst customer serivce i have ever dealt with, best mp3 players ever though imo
