ya, i tried all that but it was no good.

i tried updating my ipod too and restoring it but the updater program wont recognise my ipod either.
i just noticed a second ago though that limewire has somehow created a folder in my itunes where my ipod folder should be. Do you think that the limewire software could be the culprit?

Limewire shouldn't cause this.

Are all of the drivers on your iPod installed correctly? (To check: When your iPod is connected to your PC, double click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in your taskbar. It should then show info. about your iPod and indicate if something isn't working properly).

I had a similar problem and apparently this turned out to be what was causing it.

NO. Limewire is an independant application, it does create a limewire playlist in the itunes source list but otherwise does not effect the ipod.

i can almost guaruntee you that if you disable any potentially conflicting software on your computer you wont have a problem..... also you could try using the ipod on another computer to narrow the issue down to your computer or the actual unit your using.

what i mean by potentially conflicting software on the computer is programs like 3rd party anti-virus and firewall applications....
the article numbered 302538 on apples support site will explain the process, and if im wrong then PM me and i guaruntee i can solve your issue =]

(i originally posted a link but it wont allow me to since im not 'established' on this forum)
