I have a 40GB Photo/Color iPod, model M9585LL. What generation is this iPod or how can I find out for myself?
Sorry for the stupid question. I'm 29 and feeling old. This damn stuff changes so quickly I can't keep up.

Hi and welcome to iLounge!
Your iPod would be a 4G, or fourth-generation model. All of the colour (non-video) iPods were fourth-generation, and in fact, all of the 40Gb models (colour and monochrome) were fourth-generation as well. See our FAQ titled What are the differences between all the iPod models? for more information. (note that this has not yet been updated for the 5G yet, but we're working on it )
