Weird Problem with new ipod video

Hello all, I got all my songs downloaded onto my ipod video 30g. But there is a problem, when i go into the music section and then go to artists, it goes to all of the albums instead of artists. Anyone know what is up with this? Thanks a ton!

Yes, as of now, they are sorted by alphabetical order of the artist from A-Z. And also I just realized, when i go to artists, it actually says "ALBUM" at the top, but ALL of my songs are listed below.

Your songs are not properly tagged in that case. Right-click one of them, select Get Info, and see if the Artist and Album data is swapped.

Hey, i just did that, and the artists names and albums names are in the right spots. Anyone still have a clue what my problem is? And if it helps when i go to artists, it says "Album" at the top and ALL of my songs are there, and if it helps they are in order as of the songs by bands that begin with A are first, and then songs by bands that begine with B are next, and so on. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hey, happy to help you, so heres what happened. Originally in itunes, only half of my songs had an album name, and about the other half were just blank in the album name. So when I put the songs on my ipod, and then went to artists, It would only show the songs that had an album name, and so the other half that didnt have album names, I could not acess by the artists and I had to acess by going to the list of ALL the songs on my whole ipod. So my friend told me to change every single album name of every song in itunes to just "album" so then all the songs would show up in the artists section. But when I did this, the problem that I was having above and that you are having now occured. So I went to itunes and changed every single album name of every single song to nothing, so every single album name was just blank. Now I am not sure if you want to do this, beacuse I know a lot of people like having the names of the songs albums on their ipod, but i personally dont like to have any album names on my ipod, I just like to have the song and the artist and thats it. But if you want to do this, in itunes: go to edit, select all, all the song will get highlighted after you do that, right click somewhere in the highlighted area, right click "get info", then go to the info tab, and erase whatever is in the album tab, so it is blank, then it will take a while to update every song, then plug in your ipod and it will again take a long time to update it onto the ipod. And thats how it worked for me. But again, this in only if you do not want to have the album names. Hope this helps, and if you need any more help, just post here again.

I appreciate the advice but I like to listen to Albums as opposed to random songs for the most part so this is a significant problem for me. I seemed to have fixed it though. For anyone who cares all I did was convert all the id3's to v2.4 in itunes. I'm not sure why it didn't work before but this seemed to do the trick. Hopefully this issue won't crop up again.
