You can speed up or slow down songs... BUT they must be AAC files. (you can convert them in iTunes if they are not already.)

You can then use an Applescript to make them bookmarkable, (Mac only), or simply change the file extension from .m4a to m4b. (control-R/command-R to find song selected in iTunes)

Once you sync your iPod, play the song from Audiobooks>Song, or make a playlist in iTunes to find it easier.

Press the center button on the Clickwheel, until it says 'speed.' Then scroll left or right to select slow, fast, or normal.

The intent of this originally is when listening to audiobooks, you can change the play speed on the fly, WITHOUT changing the pitch as well.

If, hypothetically, you wanted this functionality for all your songs, you would have to use the Applescript 'make bookmarkable' or find some other way to batch-convert the file extension.

Additionally, you can change the playing speed by going to Main Menu>Settings>Audiobooks

if you have a Mac... (yeah right) http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/sc...kebookmarkable
pretty pointless, though. At least I proved theoutsidr incorrect.
