CEO Announces Release Date Of 6G Ipod

Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced yesterday at a Press Conference, the release date of the latest installment of the Ipod Series; the 6th Generation Ipod, formally known as the Ipod Junior.

The latest Ipod will hit the US shops on Saturday, 21st January, 2006.

Apple's CEO also stated that "The latest Ipod, the 'Ipod Junior', will be between both the previous 4th(Nano) and 5th(Video) Generations. He also mentioned that due to the amount of complaints of current Ipod Owners of the 4th and 5th Generations, the Ipod Junior will be encased in an entirely new material which will be scratch resistant. Battery Life was another key point which was touched on in Mr. Jobs presentation, saying that, "The Ipod Junior will contain more battery cells than the 4th and 5th Generations, thus allowing longer Battery Life."

The CEO also mentioned the new size for the Ipod Junior. It will be slightly bigger than the Nano, but smaller than the Video Enabled Ipod. The Ipod Junior will also come in a range of new colours such as ones on the 3rd Generation Mini, but also including Black & White.

The Ipod Junior will be Song, Video & Photo Enabled and will come in two sizes of 10GB and 20GB. It will be compatible with all the same accessories as the 4th and 5th Generations.

The price is still under consideration according to Mr. Jobs, but he mentioned that more information will be released as soon as possible.

This is cool, but also annoying. I just bought my Ipod video. Does anyone know how much they will be? If what mentioned, if it is between nano and video, hopefully not too much.

If this is true... and I sincerely hope it isn't for Apple's sake... they must have the most idiotic marketing guys ever to waste our god given breatheable air. Such a stupid move would be like competing against yourself and losing. I really hope Jobs isn't losing his mind

It does kinda make you wonder where the marketing ideas come from. At the same time it's looking likes something different than what's already avaliable. If it drops the prices of the current top selling Nano, than maybe it's not such a bad thing for the consumer.

Ok, let's clear this up.

By the credibility and corroboration test . Gotta love history.

First of all, you're going to immediately trust someone with 2 posts? No offence but it takes more than that to build up some form of credibility.

Secondly, Apple.com, Apple's official website has NO information on this.

And lastly, being a (relatively) seasoned watcher, I can assure you that

(a) Apple doesn't announce new iPods at press conferences. They hold special events, announce it at a MacWorld Conference, leak it through major news agencies (i.e: Newsweek) or announce it on Apple.com usually with major rumors beforehand on Apple Rumor Sites.

(b) Announcing a product before the Xmas shooping season that is due to be launched only in January is financial suicide.

(c) We had to wait a year between the 3rd and 4th Gens and approximately 18 months before the 5th Gen, which has only been out for barely 2 months.

In other words
FRAUD

Agreed. At the very least these geeks would be aware of such an announcement.
