Is it possible to use an iPod like a flashdrive,...

... to store other files other then the files iPod already supports? I want an iPod but I also could use a flashdrive. I think it's ######ed having a flashdrive along with a 30G iPod. Also,... you need iTunes to put stuff on the iPod and to take it off? I couldnt hook up the iPod to another computer without iTunes and be able to remove stuff? If not,... any stable way of overcoming this?

It can be used as a removable hard drive, but not for the purpose of changing the music on the iPod through just dragging and dropping.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean that even though it can be used as a removable drive you still wont be able to move music to and from it by draggin and dropping? If thats the case how do you add other files? Strictly through iTunes? Thanks guyz! Oh,... does that mean that I wont be able to just plug it into another computer to remove and add stuff as in without iTunes?

You can do it, but it will only be useful to transfer the music from one computer to another. The songs won't play on the iPod. That's why you have to use iTunes.

i back up my favorite songs on my iPod and movies so i wont waste computer hard drive space. so whereever i go, if i connect my iPod to a different computer, then i can just move the files out from my harddisk.

depends on the skin and what adapter you use on the universal dock.

As for "collecting music from other computers"
Use yamipod (http://www.yamipod.com)

It runs from the iPods HD and is available for Mac and PC.
Though I'm not sure if you can put music on the iPod on a mac.
But it works wonderful on a pc!
You can create different locations (home, work, friend...) and folders on this computers that sync with the ipod! (I think drag and Drop INTO YAMIPOD is also possible)

Really! Great! I'll have to check it out. Can't wait to get it. Can you use the iTrip when playing movies? So you can hear it while driving? I dont see why not.
