Storage Location on Hard Disk

The laptop I use for my iPod has had a nasty failure. I'm going to reinstall the operating system, but before I do that I want to copy all the iTunes files off of it to another computer.

Where are the files on the hard drive?

First you should consalidate all your songs into one folder from itunes. go into advanced settings and click "consalidate library". this should put all your songs into one location

go into My Music then under itunes library. all your artists should be neatly organized. if you click on an artists folder, it should show the album, and if you click on that folder, you should find the indivadual songs

i would make data cds of all the songs, edit>preferences advance tab, burning tab, choose data cd. it will let you put more songs into one cd. way more than acc or mp3. put the songs, viseos and photos, into the ipod. after you can either put back all the songs in the cds in your computer, if that does not work (anything can go wrong) use your ipod there are some programs that let help you do this from easier.

Next time, partition C: for OS and Apps only, and ALL your data, including your songs on partition D: That way, if C craps out......

That is, of course, a marvelous idea. Is 'consolidate' spelled incorrectly in iTunes? Regardless, as I've already said...

Another fabulous idea, but I'll refer you to my one and only post:

Another fine suggestion, however sorely lacking in relativity to the question I asked.

No worries, I found the location.

To elaborate on my problem, the laptop in question is my wife's computer. I had the hard disk partitioned, but the files were on the C drive. They weren't where I would've expected them to be, but I found them. Moot point, really, as I've copied the entire 60gb on that partition to another hard disk.

Ah. The precised answer people are at the PAID forum.

Anyways, see, it's usually faster if one spends the time figuring out himself.....
