The other night I connected my ipod to my computer to charge...
-dumb of me- it was charging on a different username so that persons information got transfered to my ipod who'm of which also has itunes, please be aware this never used to happen before...and now all of my 786 songs...gone! BUT ... I DO still have them all saved on my username. Please help me, how do I get them back? When I go to my username and I plug it in it say's "Itunes cannot read the contents of the ipod "Melissa" Use the ipod software updates application to restore the ipod to factory settings." Okay I have no idea how to do that, can someone be nice enough as to lead me through this or something, I need my songs back! I've only had my ipod for 3 months. Thank You Melissa |

I am assuming your using windows so: Start-Programs-iPod-iPod updater-Restore. And just follow the steps from there.

I'd imagine it'd be under applications with the name "ipod updater" and you still do the restore same as pc.

Okay I downloaded the "Ipod Updater software." Now I have my ipod connected to the mac and for about 9 hours now it's saying "Do not disconnect." I do have a lot of songs on there so maybe that's why it's taking a long time, does anyone know how long it will take to restore? & Thank you again for your help.

Okay forget about what I said before. My ipod is back to it's original settings as it was before when I first got it. I have a very important question...I still have ALL my songs on my Itunes, if I connect it to the mac will all my songs go back on there? Thanks again.

EDIT:
ipod is working again! all my songs are being re-loaded on to there as we speak, the updater reallllllly worked! I'm so happy! I got scared at first because, all my songs dissapeared from iTunes when I plugged in my ipod and then they came back and are going back on there, I'm so relieved.
