Talking Took iPod and painted it

Sup iLoungers... I was bored so I decided to paint my whole iPod. I've painted a few colors but decided that I didn't like it. However, I finally said enough is enough because it costs to buy paint.

stripped EVERY little piece off and painted it.

bought some protective film off ebay to use as screen mask (PERFECT MASKING).

HERE IT IS:

sorry I can't post a hyperlink cus the forum won't let me.

that's cool it even looked decent, however now the serial number and the apple logo on the back is gone forever. great job!

30gb iPod photo- has been sent to my aunt. She loves it, and is very careful with it, as I've heard. Hopefully I can get it back when the battery dies or the hard drive fails.

30gb iPod video- just got it as of 12/13/05 YAY!!!

well, i basically took the whole thing apart. HD, battery (I replaced a new one since is been a few yrs), unscrew the board, then down to just the face place. from then, I push the front of the clickwheel hard to get it to pop out of the face plate. then I pry one side of the click wheel to get to the middle button. If you use a hair dryer it would be easy (I just pry it out with me hand). then buy some protective film to mask off your screen. then PAINT AWAY!! let me know if that helped

btw, my back was all scratched up so I just painted it. Also, colorwarepc is expensive. My best suggestion for paint is taking it to a body shop to get it painted after you have mask it off. I had it painted lime green but when I buffed it out it got messed up so I had to repaint it. Just go there and pick out a color from their paint catalog. those body shop should be able to do it for under $20 ( i got mine done free since i know the guy).

I used dupi-color automotive paint. It looks awesome in the sun (really really shiny). Maybe I'll buy some used parts off eBay and paint it then sell it. =) wat do you all think?

That's a MUCH better job than the ones I've been seeing on here.. it looks like you at least masked it properly. Looks great, though I agree the back would've looked better left as steel.

james: no I did not paint clickwheel. I might try to mix some clear paint with a little color to get that transparent paint affect.

kloan: I didn't mask it off I took the whole iPod apart but just mask the screen with a protector film I found on eBay.

First off, just because he's an ilounge noob doesn't mean he's an iPod modding noob.

Second i think its is really cool how he painted the back. It makes it look really uniform. I personally don't like the shiny metal with any other color than black or white- it just doesn't look like it matches. End.
