Using multiple iPods on one computer (Help please)

Hello. I share a computer with my g/f, who recently purchased an iPod. When I tried to connect her new iPod to the computer, iTunes wouldn't even recognize it. How exactly am I supposed to go about this? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

depending on your computer type check out this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711

You will need to trouble shoot why the computer is not recognizing it.

Thanks for the link. iPod recognizes it in iPod Updater, but when I go to preferences in the iTunes menu, it states that no iPod is connected. I know that it has to be something simple that I'm doing wrong. Whenever I connect it, it always states that I need to format my iPod. However, after doing so, there's no change in its status (e.g., my playlist and other info is still on the left of the iTunes screen).

Thanks

Are you using USB or firewire? USB has some odd connection issues it seems.

Try a restart of of the the iPod and computer and see if that does a jumpstart to the recognition.
