I have just got an iPod photo 30gb. Is it possible to create a slide show in iPhoto with the Ken Burns effects & droplet transition, then down load that to my iPod.

Nope, can't do the Ken Burns thing in iPod. But I bet that's coming in the future, especially with the video iPod.

Is it possible to make a slide show at all and then import/download to the ipod? I'm thinking of podcasts - only this way would be slideshows downloadable for clients, viewers.

Yep, you would make the slide show in iPhoto. You can send the slide show to clients. I think they would have to have iPhoto up and running. Not sure how this would all work for PC.
Here's a site that sells slide shows for iPods: http://www.earthvideoworks.com/icandy.html
