how to open ithmb files on pc

Hi, I need some help please.

I have just bought an ipod photo 60GB and transferred some photos on there from my work pc which has subsequently been wiped (I left work!). I then put more photos on my ipod from another (my home) PC but in syncing the two the ipod deleted the original work photos. Luckily I was wary of this happening so tried to save a copy before they were wiped. However I now have 8 .ithmb files on my PC and do not know how to open them, or even better, how to transfer them back on to my ipod without deleting the new photos!

Please can anyone help me? Thanks.

Welcome. When transferring photos to the iPod go to edit>pref>ipod>photos and check the box 'full resolution' so that you can easily remove the photos from the iPod. You should have burned the originals to a disk and transported them that way.

To answer your Q, you will have to purchase X-Play software and download the photo plug in to extract the thumbs. Look in the software section for the link.

Hi, thanks for that... the Xplay plugin works for viewing photos from the ipod itself, but do you know anything that will open the .ithmb files on the PC itself? Thanks.

This clearly says that you can copy photos from the iPod.

Yea Open-file will open them on youtr PC really well, took me a while to find a good program, but yea, it works ( open-file. com )
