I've had my 40gig iPod since Christmas, but recently I've been having problems... namely songs will end midway or just stop altogether. I've tried resetting it (according to the instruction manual) but the problem keeps happening.
After a recent attempt at resetting, I looked at the menu and all the playlists I'd created were still there. I just assumed that resetting would wipe everything out on the iPod (which I could reload from my library). So someone tell me, what's SUPPOSED to happen when I reset? Also, if this problem continues, how do I get in contact w/ Apple for repair? And has anyone else run into this problem? Any quick fixes? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. TBV |

Reset just resets the settings. A restore is what wipes everything on your ipod.

OK... how do I do that?
And this may be a stupid question, but once the ipod is wiped, I can just reload everything from my library, right? |

To do a restore go to the ipod updater and connect your ipod. Click restore then when the ipod gives a ac adapter symbol on the screen connect it to the ac adapter.

Thanks Ipodman!
But to confirm, this just wipes out the ipod, not my library, right? |

OK, I did a restore and everything seemed to be ok... I then reloaded my library onto my ipod and again, all seemed ok...
I just tried playing one of my playlists and most of the songs will not play... the screen shows the song title and everything, but no music... it just stalls for a second and then clicks over to the next... I think I have to send it to Apple for a repair... any advice on how to do that? TBV |
