iPod OS Compatibility

I am about to order the new 20G iPod color and have a question about the compatibility. Currently all my music is on my Windows XP-operated system. I hope to buy a Mac soon and was wondering if my iPod would recognize the Mac after i make the switch. I think I read somewhere that once the iPod synchonizes and recognizes the PC, it would work recognize the Mac. Thanks for any help.

I believe that once you've synced music between the iPod and your PC, that your iPod will be formatted for use with a PC. Therefore you'll have to reformat the iPod in order to sync it with the Mac.

So, cannot sync with a PC and Mac? Otherwise, we have to wipe the iPod before switching OSes?
