Song Order Help...not the usual so take a look at help PLEASE!

I have a newer 160 GB and am very anal about upkeep. All songs are alphabetized as well as albums. When I go into genre, then albums all is well again. After this last step however the songs themselves are not in alphabetical order. How can I correct this?

Again this isn't from the song menu but after music, genre, and all albums then on to the songs...not alphabetized.

Appreciate any expert help! Thank you.

By "all songs are alphabetized" do you mean that you're not using track numbers within an album?

If you are using track numbers, then the iPod will always sort by track number within an album, whether you get there by the Artist/Album menu, or by the Genre/Artist/Album menu, or directly by the Album menu.

Having said that, I vaguely recall a bug in the Classic FW where the sorting of songs via the Genre menu is not sorted by track number, but by song name. But that sounds like what you want?

In any case, you really have little control over this other than tweaks to each song's tag, which would be a nightmare to maintain. You're not likely going to see a FW update for the Classic, ever, so that's out of the question.

My 160 is all correct except when I click on Genre and then all albums then all songs. I have it connected to my car dock and can control it manually or on my steering wheel. Well once it is from all songs it is not in alphabetical order....just appears to be random. It is in alphabetical order per the album though.

A friend has an itouch and hers is in alphabetical order using the same order above.

My ipod is in order all the way around down to the track numbers.

I wonder why the classic doesn't show this but the itouch does.
