Hello everyone,
I bought myself the Classic 60GB a few years back and everything ran smoothly for a number of years. I slowly but surely amassed a huge collection of songs and was very happy with the service provided. Unfortunately I-Tunes removed the ability to 'burn discs' and I tried to uninstall and re-install an older version when it would use this feature. Throughout that process something has went wrong and I appear to have lost my song library from my PC. When I now try to snyc, it tells me that my I-pod is registered already and if I carry on it will wipe what I have stored on my I-pod. I have been trying, to no avail, to come to some sort of solution and when I tried to re-install the latest I-Tunes, I now recieve an error message Apple application software not found Apple application support is required to run I-Tunes helper. Please uninstall and re-install, Error 2. I'm at my wits end with Apple and the I-pod. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

There's a link to the instructions for a clean install in the Apple Support Document Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows. iTunes probably lost the link to the iPod while you've been messing with the system. Your best bet now would be to re-build your iTunes Library than Restore the iPod with the new Library. Restore will erase all files off the iPod and return it to a factory set up.
I would stick to the latest version of iTunes. Disk burning was not removed from iTunes, it's still there, unless your install of iTunes had a problem. There is no longer a "Burn" button in the interface. Disk burning is achieved by creating a playlist then right click the playlist choosing "Burn Playlist to Disc".
