Resetting the Phone to Factory Settings

How can I reset my phone to factory settings if I forgot the passcode? I am able to actually get into my phone via fingerprint recognition, but when I want to reset the phone, it asks me for the 4-digit code to login to ensure if I want do delete it.

I forgot this code and was wondering: how do I reset it so I can actually restore the phone to factory settings?

You can't reset it without knowing that code. But you can use iTunes to RESTORE the iPhone to factory state without that code. If it is has Find My iPhone on, you'll need your apple ID password to turn that off first.

The restore process will remove that pin from the iPhone and ensure that your personal data is erased.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....
