Disable need to lift iPhone to turn off alarm

When an alarm goes off, no amount of hitting the Stop button in various ways seems to turn it off unless I lift the phone. Is there any way to disable the requirement to lift the phone?

Clarification: Lifting the phone by itself doesn't stop the alarm, and neither does pressing Stop alone. I have to lift the phone *and* press Stop.

I am using iOS 11.2.6 on the iPhone SE. Raise to Wake is already disabled.

On the iPhone X, there is a button at the bottom to stop the alarm. No need to Raise to Wake, the alarm already woke the phone.

The button in the middle just snoozes the alarm (which is what I tend to hit unfortunately) and I was on 11.2.5. Just upgraded to 11.2.6, and the same behavior works. I have Raise to Wake enabled, but I left it flat on my desk next to me.

Do you not have a stop button?

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....

I have a Stop button, but it doesn't do anything unless the phone is moved somehow, either by lifting or accidentally nudging it laterally. I'm already at iOS 11.2.6.

I saw you were on 11.2.6 which is why I upgraded. I tried again with Raise to Wake disabled, and I was still able to stop the alarm with the Stop button.

The only other thing I have enabled is in Settings->General->Accessibility, Tap to Wake

Have you tried that?

Have you tried to reboot the phone? Reset the phone? Restore the phone?

I power down and backup every day. I'm considering resetting the phone, haven't yet decided. Haven't tried restoring, not sure I want to.

I looked up Tap-to-wake, and it might be specific to iPhone X.

I was afraid of that feature being iPhone X only due to the lack of a button.

Since you power down, that is a reboot. The reset and restore you have not tried. The backup will allow the restore to put back your settings and data. If the backup is not encrypted, then your passwords may need to be re-entered for WiFi, Apple ID and email.

I have restored several times testing theories, resolving issues. I haven't lost any data yet.
