In a recent review on the new Sena Magnetic Holster case for the iPhone 5 by Nick Guy, titled "Sena Cases LeatherSkin, Magnetic Holster + WalletSlim for iPhone 5", on 18th December 2012, Nick makes the comment on the Magnetic Holster case: "We believe the market for holsters like this has all but dried up, but it’s a good option if you’re sticking with the classic style." and describes it as "A belt holster with embedded magnets in the flap to hold it shut, a case design that was once much more common, but has gone out of style over the past few years."
I have been using a leather holster case for the iPhone for some years and have found it most useful socially and during business, in that the iPhone is always to hand, and a black case with a black iPhone blends seemlessly with a black or dark suit. Apart from the arm band cases, all other cases are loose in the pocket or bag, or on the table. When you're out and about, there's much more risk of scrambling to get the phone when it rings, and if placed on the table during a meeting, more risk of leaving it behind. I'm guessing the holster case typically suits men more than women, with the ability to use the belt clip. Why does Nick think that the holster market has dried up? Surely, this is the most practical iPhone case around? What do others think about the holster case? Dead or still alive? |
