Unhappy iOS 4.2.1 and Find My iPhone... lost??

Hi Guys,

I have an old iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1 which I use for testing and development.

Until earlier this month, I was able to track this iPhone in Find My iPhone app using my old MobileMe account, however although the iPhone still shows FMI activated for the account, the device no longer shows up in the FMI app.

Does anyone know whether Apple have somehow turned off this facility for older devices now? If they have, I'm sure there will be a lot of iPhone 3G owners out there who will not be happy about losing this vital service...

Ok, so this is a 4 year old device, but not everybody changes their phone every time a new version comes out!

Any thoughts?

Steve

Unfortunately, Apple's official answer on the Find My iPhone feature is that iOS 5 is required and anything older is unsupported. See our Ask iLounge article on Using iCloud Find My iPhone on iOS 4.2 devices for more information.

It was working back in June, but it appears that it probably went away with the shutdown of MobileMe in early July.
