Do not know how many times the same question has to come up over and over and over again.
iPod is music player. iPhone is a smart phone NOT EVERYBODY NEEDS THE PHONE !!!!! I want only to play music I buy an iPod. For a phone I am covered my Android Device is better than my iPhone and I will never buy another iPhone. |

I agree to the point, the situation seems like Apple is not focusing on the ipod anymore. The sole interest of Apple lies in the Apple Ipad and iphones, so literally they are killing ipod themselves. From a company perspective, what seems the case to me is that ipod are not that beneficial in terms of revenue, so all they can do is that they start focusing on other things!

Why not? Both the iPod touch and iPhone provide the EXACT SAME music experience. I would say that they both offer a better experience than the iPod nano (mainly due to its small display), iPod shuffle (because it has no display), and the iPod classic (a touchscreen is a lot easier to use when scrolling through content than a click wheel). So what it is about the iPhone that makes it a sub-par music device? Is it the storage? If so, you would have to thrown in every single iDevice ever made with a capacity lower than 64GB. Is it the battery life? Nope, that is on par with other iDevice. Also, if battery life was a deciding factor, the iPad would be the best music device as that can go for a full week before needing to be recharged if you are just listening to music.

Again: why not? Most people have very small music libraries that can easily fit on a 16GB or 32GB iPhone. Why would anyone need an iPod if their music library is 5GB and they have a couple of movies? All of that would easily fit on an iPhone negating any need for a dedicated iPod. In reality, the people who own iPods mainly fit into one of the following categories:
1. They are too young to own an iPhone. 2. They don't want a smartphone. 3. They can't afford a smartphone (data plans are expensive). 4. Their library is too big to fit on a 64GB device. 5. They prefer Android as a smartphone but are still tied to iTunes for audio/video consumption. Either way, I can think of plenty of cases where having just an iPhone would be fine for audio/video playback.
