iPhone: two things that really slow down

1. open up texting app and start using it. keyboard reacts extremely slow making it almost unusable. only solution i've found is to quit and go back into it. any word about possible fixes in the futre?

2. bring up my contacts menu, holds up for 3-5 seconds before reacting to any finger movements or pressing. haven't found any solution to fix this one. anyone know of fixes or aknowledgement from apple about the problem?

aside from these two problems, haven't had much of anything else besides the ocassional app crash... and i wish the iphone managed memory a little better.

As far as I'm comcerned, 2.0.1 has fixed both of those issues pretty well. I hope that will be your experience, too. :-)

That's an improvement to the SQLite engine that the iphone uses. There was lag on all database-using apps, like Notes, SMS, Contacts, Photos, etc. My 3g seems much better but still not "1.1.4 fast" with 2.0.1 . . . let's hope they don't consider this completely "fixed"

SQLite? That's ironic. Remember how Jobs refused to adapt Linux as the core of the iPhone because it was "someone else's stuff." I guess SQLite is small enough to not hurt his pride! :-)

I've found 2.0.1 to be even faster than 1.4. I'm thrilled there is no longer any lag when typing.

my contacts opens immediately to wherever I left off.
HOWEVER, just opening the SMS app always takes 2-4 seconds. very annoying.
Anyone have any suggestions for the SMS app to speed it up somehow?

They were ok, but since I upgraded yesterday to 2.0.1 (5B108) contacts now lag when opening for 3 secs, sometimes less (1..2secs).
I have 237 contacts, no pictures in them just first/last/company/email/phone.

That's interesting. It's the other way 'round for me. I have 310 contacts. There used to be a 4-5 second lag. After the update to 2.0.1 it has been down to 1-2 seconds.

I have a very little amount of contacts and mine still lags even after 2.0.1...not happy. The weird thing is that it doesn't lag when I click on PHONE >> CONTACTS only when I click on the CONTACTS icon.

ive never used the contacts icon always got there through phone but decided to press it and it does take a bit longer than through phone. I don't even know why they decided to put the icon. I press phone and it goes to my contacts tab anyway

I like the new icon, it was something I wanted in the 1.x.x OS. Because, sometimes you'd be looking at voicemail or recent calls and you'd have to go into Phone and then Contacts, but now there's a dedicated icon.

Although, I think we should be able to disable the icon if we wanted to...like many of the native apps. IE, Stocks, Notes, etc.
