I love my iPhone but the volume is just too low during a call.
Is there any way to increase it? iPhone 3G |

Yeah, the volume switch on the left side of the phone.
During a call this controls in-call volume, up or down.

Your volume must be turned down somehow. If you had it at max volume, you'd hear that the iPhone is pretty darn loud.

Is the earpiece covered by anything? Are you sure you're positioning the earpiece properly over your ear? (seems like an obvious one, but i've had a few occasions where it'd get quiet and i'd realize i moved the phone ever so slightly)
Otherwise, call volume is normally quite adequate.

While purchasing my 3G I was instructed to call AT&T for removal of a corporate discount on their edge iPhone I realized I had a super crappy earpiece compared to the in store unit.
Glad the 3g doesn't suffer these problems. Then again, they seem to have started right after I dropped it. You haven't dropped yours have you? |

I have a terrible time hearing callers on my iPhone 3G. I have to press it against my ear as tight as possible and can barely hear that it's ringing on the other end or when the person answers. Should I take it back and have it checked at the AT&T store? it doesn't sound like others are having this problem, so maybe it's my particular phone.

I would take it back. That sounds like the exact problem the first generation iphone suffered from. The 3G is supposed to have less of a "sweet spot".
