Putting iPhone Sim Card in another phone?

im going to sell my iphone and will be without an iphone til july 11 when i buy the new one. so im going to put my sim in an old at&t phone i have until then, but i have a question. Will at&t know that i no longer am using an iphone?

like on the online system and etc will it say the new phone im using or that only changes if you change it?

also can i go into the store with just my sim card or do i have to bring the phone i have it in?

also if i bring it with the phone i have it on, will they not let me upgrade to the new iphone, because im not coming off an old iphone?

sorry for so many questions

because they have a record, you could walk in there with nothing. They will properly give you a new sim card and make the old one defunct. Or, I'm sure they could just program your old card to work... Either way, you will NOT have two working cards when its all over with.

You have a contract so there would be no need to bring your old SIM and/or phone in. They have your details. All that should happen is that you're details, number etc, will be transferred to your new SIM in your new phone. Your old SIM will then cease to function.
Now, as to whether an iPhone SIM will work in another phone, I don't know. I doubt it's a generic SIM card, but I would try before you sell.

Bryan

Mine worked in a Blackberry.
I took my iphone swimming and discovered................IT CANT SWIM!!!
My secretary let me borrow her phone till i replace mine. I took my sim card out of my iphone, popped it in the blackberry, and about a minute later, new text messages i had recieved since my iphone drowned, started pouring in on the blackberry.

I dunno what the score is wi American providers but don't you usually just put your existing SIM into the new phone when carrying over / renewing contracts with the same network provider?

That's certainly the way it works in the rest of the world, but the US is (and I don't mean to offend) quite a long way behind in cellular terms...
