My first question is why does when I add a video to IPad using iTunes it doesn't hold it place once I'm finished watching a click done? I know it is supposed to this because their is even a setting I have that is turned on and it is set to resume videos from last play.
The second question is how come when I delete a video on iPad it still shows up on iTunes? Is it because I have enabled my iPad to be managed manually. |

Make sure that the setting to resume playback is actually enabled for each video file, not just for the iPad itself. In iTunes, right-click on a video file. Then left-click on Get Info, the Options tab, put a checkmark next to "Remember playback position," and then click on OK. Make sure you re-sync your videos back to your iPad with iTunes.
As per your second question... You can have content in your iTunes library not on your iPad. Look at my library, I have over 500GB worth of music, movies, TV shows, music videos, audiobooks, apps, and eBooks. There is no way that I am going to be able to store all of that on my 32GB iPad. Deleting something on your iPad will not delete it from your iTunes library. That is exactly what you want to happen unless you are using your iPad as your sole means of storing content. If that is the case, you should stop that behavior immediately. You can spend $30 and buy a 250GB portable, external hard drive if you don't have enough free space on your computer's internal hard drive so that you can put your iTunes library on that. Never, ever, ever use an iDevice (iPod, iPhone, or iPad) as the sole means of storing your media.

Thanks again. My only question to you know if why should I back up my media on an external drive. Is the drive on the iPad unreliable and could crash or something like that?

Also I tried to check the options and they are checked but for some reason even though the setting is on via my ipad and the videos have the option ticked to continue playback it still not doing that on most of them which is weird.

Make sure you re-sync the videos back to your iPad once you enable the option through "Get Info" for each video.
iDevices (iPods, iPhones, and iPads) need to be restored quite a bit. Restoring an iDevice erases absolutely everything on them and is the solution to many, many problems. Keeping a media file only on your iPad means that once you restore it, that media file is lost forever. I have been here a long, long time and come across numerous people who used their iPods, iPhones, and some iPads as their sole means of storing media. They would encounter an issue, need to restore their iDevice, and eventually loosed everything. That is why you should have a backup of your media somewhere on your computer. Even than, computers sometimes need to be reformatted erasing everything on their internal hard drive. Having an external backup is smart and really inexpensive. Even now, 2TB hard drives have come down in price to an affordable level. Best Buy often has 500GB external hard drives for $45 as well.

You can try Oplayer HD only thing is its a paid app but it gets the job done. Only thing is is that it costs five dollars. But it works very well and can play many other formats. And at kornchild that makes sense since I am a jailbreaker and every time I update I usually have to remove everything. This seems like a great solution thanks man.

CineXPlayer is free on the app store and will handle divx/xvid AVI files with mp3 stereo audio. I assume that is what you mean by AVI compatibility since AVI is nothing more than a video container. It can house mpeg-4, mpeg-2, mpeg-1, divx, xvid, WMV, and many other types of video formats along with WMA, mp3, PCM-WAV, AIFF, and various other audio formats. Most AVI videos that people obtain are encoded using the Xvid standard along with either stereo mp3 or AC3 5.1 audio (Dolby Digital). I think CineXPlayer can even handle those but don't quote me.
VLC used to be offered in the app store and it too was free, I'm not sure if it is back up but the app was taken down a while back.

Did you ever restore your iPad using iTunes?

Possibly. I thought you were using stock firmware. Restore your iPad, don't jailbreak it, sync videos over, and see if they retain their position. You can restore your iPad and sync from your backup but, if that doesn't work, you should restore your iPad and not sync from a backup.
