ipad 3...are hole and port locations in same places as ipad 2?? a

Am trying to get a case for new ipad3 and know its slightly thicker but was wondering if the earphone, on/off switch, and speaker locations are in the identical same places on the old and new ipads,
I want to buy a cooler master ipad2 wake up folio (it also covers the back) so the case has cutouts for those ports.
Thanks for your help

Yes, everything is in exactly the same location on the iPad 3 as on the iPad 2. Just keep in mind that cases which are specially molded, especially ones that snap onto the back of an iPad, won't hold an iPad 3. Many cases should be OK except for the specially molded plastic ones. For example, the Griffen plastic backs won't fit and I don't think any of the plastic keyboard+case units would work either.

Question ipad gen 3 auto lock

I heard that many of the ipad 2 cases may fit the ipad 3 but the auto lock feature won't work because of differences in the magnetic sensors. I'm wondering if the Apple smart covers have the same issue or if there is a specific gen 3 vs gen 2 smart cover. Anyone?

The Apple Smart Covers all work with the iPad 3, Apple has not released a new version of those. Third party cases are having issues because Apple switched the polarity of the magnets in the iPad 3. This is only affecting third party cases though.
