I was solely using my iPhone 4s and had no intention of buying an iPad. But with the amount of time I spent on my phone with a small screen I talked myself into an iPad. I'm glad with my purchase. My brother has an iPad1 and he's happy with his. I could be content on upgrading every other generation depending on upgraded features in hardware.

I'm very happy with my iPad (new or 3 whatever you want to call it). Like some others, using the 4s for so many things, the small screen was a distraction. It works fine, but reading, web surfing is so much better with the iPad. I don't think I would recommend the iPad2 even for less money as the retina display is IMHO that much better. The increase in performance is also nice. I did not own an iPad 1 or 2.

The iPad 3 is fantastic. My wife has an iPad 2 and my daughter has the original iPad. My retina display looks just fine and my WiFi reception is excellent. There were some complaints last earlier about WiFi reception and the Apple store genius bar was just replacing them. I have a year old iMac that I used to use a lot, but I can do almost everything on the iPad that I did on the iMac.

It's an amazing device. My daughter never tells me she is bored because she spends a lot of time in her room with her iPad. My wife also spends a lot of time with Facebook on her iPad while watching TV and in bed before going to sleep.

The iPad 3rd generation has been a nice addition to my collection. I bought it thinking if it wasn't a big enough improvement over the 2 I would sell it. The screen really did it for, when you use it with apps and media designed for the new screen it is really quite amazing. I can't tell any speed difference at all. The first question I get alot if the "does it get hot". I use mine tons and it doesn't get hot at all, especially when compared to my macbook pro. Overall, I sold the 2 and very happy with the 3rd gen.

Feels comfort in the hand

iPad 3 Tablet is quiet bit larger than the original one but still feels comfort in the hand and looks very decent.
It is designed in a way that feels you comfort while handling to it.

The question that you have yourself is, the ipad2 right now is just 100$ cheaper than the new ipad. So is 100$ worth is for a better screen, better back camera, Better CPU (quad core GPU for games) ?

Personally, if you own the original ipad or don't own one at all, the 100$ more is worth it to me. For some others, it won'T and the ipad 2 will be good enough.
OK, "heavily discounted" may be too strong a phrase. However, a 32 gb iPad 3 costs $600 whereas a refurbished 32 gb iPad 2 costs $400, so that's a $200 difference-- or a 50% premium for the iPad 3!!

For the 16gb, it does look to be only $100, or a 25% premium.

For some people, spending a $100 extra to get a hotter running, slower charging device to get a marginally prettier screen may not be the best idea!!

(Sorry, I couldn't resist! We all take our i-devices and expenditure decisions so seriously that we need to be kidded or tweaked every now and then!)

I am quite happy with my new iPad 3. Haven't face any problem yet. But it is true that new one is heavier than the previous iPad 2.

The iPad 2 is better because its thinner and lighter. I just love it and enjoys listening music.

I hope you didn't just say that as the size and mass differences between the iPad 2 and iPad 3 don't make up for the lack of upgrades offered in the iPad 3 such as its much higher resolution display, ability to work with 4G LTE wireless networks, bluetooth 4.0 (this will help whenever receivers and speakers start supporting it), better rear camera that takes much better pictures, and its ability to produce better looking graphics in games (among a few).

I've upgraded from the iPad2 to the iPad3 mainly because of the screen. I read a lot of comics and books on my iPad and the improved resolution makes a HUGE difference especially with smaller type. Text on the iPad2 was ok, but was a little fuzzy compared to the 3.

My ONLY complaint with this device is how long it takes to charge. You have to charge this thing for 8 hours to USE it for 8, and forget about charging and using it at the same time. Even when plugged in and playing games, the charge still depletes, just not as slowly.

I'm on the fence. I LOVE the device, but hate the fact that I have to charge and leave it alone for several hours JUST to have the battery at 100%.

I meant to say "not as quickly"

That was a concern for me at first as well, but really I leave all my iOS devices docked and charging every night anyway, and I guess I rarely use my iPad for more than 6-8 hours during the day.

True, but of course it depends largely on the apps you use, and don't forget that all of the built-in apps, such as Photos and Videos have obviously been upgraded with the Retina Display treatment. This makes a big difference in both of these areas alone -- 1080p videos now look great on the new screen, as do high-resolution photos.
