Question IPad Sync Issu(Overwriting other apps)

Hi folks,

I have only ever downloaded my apps to my IPad from the Ipad store, not through ITunes. however, i did download one app to my itunes. Now when i try to sync, it is telling it will delete all my other apps to add the new ITunes app.
I know there must be a way to stop this from happing. I just want to sync the new app with the rest of the ones on the Ipad.........does anyone know how to prevent this?

Thanks in advance!
D

This is what happens whenever you use auto-sync. iTunes essentially wants to wipe your iPad clean so that it can sync the iPad to match the content that is in your iTunes library. You can either download the apps to your iTunes library before syncing the iPad (you can either use the Transfer Purchases option or re-download the apps for free from iCloud) or use manual syncing. I don't recommend using manual sync because too many issues can arise and it is always smart to have your media (music, videos, photos, and apps) not stored solely on your iPad. So get the app into your iTunes library and sync your iPad. You should sync your iPad on a regular basis with iTunes to help keep iOS updated and to have a backup of your iPad. Otherwise, when an issue comes up, you will have to restore your iPad and end up losing everything on it.

The Transfer Purchases function is through iTunes, all of what I mentioned was through iTunes. You will not have to buy apps again, period. As I said, you can either transfer them off of your iPad or download them again, for free, through iCloud. It doesn't matter if you bought the apps on your iPad, the apps are automatically uploaded to your iCloud account that Apple has automatically setup for everyone who uses the iTunes Store. iCloud allows you to re-download music, eBooks, TV Shows, and Apps again for free no matter what device was used to purchase said content.

I also forgot to mention that you can download the app directly using your iPad. Just open the App Store, go to Purchases, and then click on the Cloud icon next to the app that you purchased through iTunes. As I said, it is still best to sync your iPad with iTunes about once a week just so you can have a modern backup of your iPad in case anything goes wrong. That way, if something does happen to your iPad, you can restore it and sync everything back using the backup made by iTunes. Or, in the event that your iPad needs replaced (via Apple's warranty), you can sync that iPad from the backup of your old one.
