I have a new iPad2.
As a musician, I have used Safari to locate .mid and .kar files, but when I try to download them, Safari says it cannot. I don't know why. Then how do I get these files? I have purchased Garage Band, but I have not yet started working with it. iTunes? Grateful for help. |

Safari itself can only download a handful of file formats. It doesn't matter if you have an app that can actually work with the file formats, the limitation is in Safari itself. For example, the iPod app on an iPad can work just fine with mp3 and AAC files yet Safari lacks the ability to download those. In fact, I think Safari can only save image files and PDFs.
What you need to do is download the files using your computer and then sync them over with iTunes. Garageband should be showing up in iTunes so that you can sync the content over.

No. FireFox does not work with iOS at all and there aren't any plans for making an iOS version of FireFox. Even if Mozilla released an iPad specific version of FireFox, it would still be locked from accessing any internal components of iOS and the iPad aside from having the ability to save bookmarks. Again, you will HAVE to use a computer to download the files and sync them over to your iPad.
